1Information We Collect
When you use RentMitra to find student housing, PGs, hostels, or list a property, we may collect the following categories of data:
- Account & Contact Details: Mobile number (for OTP authentication), full name, email address, and profile photo.
- Search & Locality Preferences: City preferences, college campus filters, budget ranges, occupancy choices (single/double sharing), and food preferences.
- Property & Listing Media (For Owners): Property address, room specifications, uploaded 360° panoramas, photos, pricing, and ownership documentation.
- Transactional Records: UPI token payment reference IDs, date/time timestamps, and booking confirmations (we do not store your raw bank PIN or UPI MPIN).
- Device & Telemetry Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and anonymous platform usage metrics to prevent spam and abuse.

3Data Protection & Security Measures
RentMitra implements state-of-the-art technical and organizational safeguards complying with Indian data protection laws (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, DPDP):
- End-to-end HTTPS/TLS encryption across all APIs and data transfers.
- Role-based access control ensuring only authorized verification officers view owner KYC details.
- PCI-DSS compliant payments: all card, UPI and net-banking transactions are processed entirely by our PCI-DSS compliant, RBI-authorized payment gateway partner (Cashfree Payments). RentMitra never sees or stores your full card number, CVV, UPI MPIN or bank PIN — we retain only non-sensitive transaction reference IDs for receipts and reconciliation.
- Regular security audits and continuous automated intrusion detection monitoring.
4Your Rights & Choices
You retain full ownership of your data. You may at any time:
- Access, correct, or update your profile details from the account settings.
- Request permanent deletion of your account and associated booking history by emailing privacy@rentmitra.in.
- Opt out of non-transactional marketing SMS or email communications.
